Professional Development Plan

Professional Development Plan

Professional Goal #1
Continue my degree and receive my Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
I would like to receive my doctorate by the year 2016. I would like to be able to teach upcoming teachers the ways of managing their classrooms, conducting small group instruction, and communicating with parents. I have already applied for the doctorate program, although I didn’t get in my first time applying I will continue to try to get my doctorate.  With this goal I have a lot of support from family and friends in the industry I teach, many of them say I would be a great teacher at the college level, because the knowledge that I have with what works in the classroom. I have also been told that I have the drive that is needed to get my doctorate. I will know that I have accomplished my goal when I walk across the stage and receive that degree. No matter how long it takes to get, I will receive my doctorate.

Professional Goal #2
Create and manage a school budget
This next professional goal is something that I would like to have the opportunity to accomplish but it would require me to receive a position as an administrator, so in turns it is two goals. I would like to be able to manage schools budget with the least amount of complications as possible from start to finish. This would be a 1 year project and start in the spring of the upcoming school year. I will know if I have accomplished my goals by the success of the budget management at the end of the next school year. The mentor that I would look to would be other administrators in the district. They are great resources because they have done these kinds of issues, and situations.

Professional Goal #3
Write and receive grants to improve the technology at my school.
I enjoy winning things, who doesn’t? I would like to improve the technology in the classrooms at the schools I work for. I would like to write 6 grants for get interactive whiteboards and iPad for the classroom at my school. I think that this type of technology is a great advancement for the school, because most children only get to use technology at school, not including television and video games. We are allowed to write 2 grants per year with our district. Every year I will write a grant for a grade level to get iPads for all teachers to use, as well as an interactive whiteboard for another grade level. My goal is to get all of these grants within the next 6 years, I would like to have them within the next 6 but unfortunately in our district not many teachers are given these districts. I will discuss the ways to accomplish these goals with our instructional coach at our campus and the principal, to see who needs the grants first.
